Introduction to SLC 500s: Overview of Hardware, Software and Basic Instruction Sets

This forty-hour course provides a hands-on overview of the Allen-Bradley SLC 500 programmable controller Hardware; Software and Basic Instruction sets. Extensive opportunities are provided for practice on SLC 500 simulators with complete SLC 500 software programs pre-loaded. Basic troubleshooting skills are also covered. APS or ICOM AI software versions also available.

After this class, participants will be able to:
  1. Recognize how the SLC 500 software (RSLogix 500™, APS or AI) is used to interface with the SLC 500 hardware and ladder logic programming

  2. Recognize how the SLC 500 software uses Instruction sets

  3. Search to a specific address

  4. Insert, delete or alter instructions

  5. Save, store or print program modifications

  6. Perform a program backup

Familiarity with Ladder Logic, Numbering Systems basics, and possess good Windows Navigational Skills
