Sexual Harassment: What Every Employee Should Know
Click on the below to view.
Rationale
The American workforce has changed dramatically in the last 50 years. Employers expect their employees to continually adapt to technological, product, and service-related changes in order to produce high quality work. They also expect their employees to shoulder increasing responsibilities and continuously update their skills. As these changes have occurred, so have employee expectations. Employees expect their organizations to treat them fairly and to provide a safe environment that allows them to make meaningful contributions. Sexual harassment training helps employers satisfy both sets of expectations by providing information and skills that will help create the type of work environment in which every employee’s efforts contribute to a healthy bottom line.
Program Overview
The purpose of this course is to provide participants with an understanding of what sexual harassment is and specify their rights and responsibilities as they relate to sexual harassment. Four types of sexual harassment are presented and participants are encouraged to learn not only to identify the types of behavior that fit within the categories, but to differentiate between appropriate and inappropriate behavior between employees and their co-workers and supervisors. A discussion of intent and impact is included in the program in order to help participants differentiate between intentional and inadvertent comments and behaviors. Finally, the range of recourse available to participants is presented, along with a response skill that can be practiced during the session.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of Sexual Harassment – What Every Employee Should Know, participants will be able to:
- Define sexual harassment.
- Describe the effect of a harassment-free environment on the organization.
- Describe an employee’s rights under the law.

Throughout the program, participants are encouraged to think about how their behaviors can help create a harassment-free environment.
Most participants can complete this course in one hour.
