RSLogix5™ Software- Level Two

This forty-hour course is for advanced users who want to be able to develop & create PLC-5 programs from scratch using the powerful features of the Allen-Bradley RSLogix5™ software. Advanced troubleshooting features of the software and use of Advanced Instructions Sets may also be included based on customer need. There are extensive exercises and opportunities for practice on PLC-5 simulators. (It is strongly recommended that the Customer provide their use own sample programs to make this course most effective.)

After this class, participants will be able to:

Programming

1. Develop PLC-5 programs from scratch using the RSLogix5™ software
2. Thoroughly document and backup newly designed programs
3. Recognize strengths & weaknesses of existing PLC-5 programs and make corrections to improve them

RSLogix5™ Software Advanced Features

4. Properly configure the RSLinx™ software to communicate on DH+
5. Properly configure an RSLogix5™ driver to communicate with RSLinx™
6. Configure the RSLogix5™ display screen using the Windows arrange, the maximize, minimize and restore buttons
7. Use the RSLogix5™ software to display a single ladder program or multiple ladder programs in multiple windows
8. Use the Project Tree window to display or configure: Controller Properties, Processor Status, Channel status, Ladder Program files, Cross Reference file, Data Table files, Force table files, Custom Data monitor screens and the Database Editor

Advanced Instruction Sets (Customer chooses – some Basic Sets are listed in case study of these is needed)

1. Relay type XIC, XIO, OTE, OTL, OTU, IIN, IOT
2. Timer and counters TON, TOF, CTU, CTD, RES
3. Compares CMP, EQU, GEQ, GRT, LEQ, CES, LIM, MEQ, NEQ
4. Computes CPT, ADD, AVE, CLR, DIV, MVC, NEG, SRT, SQR, STD, SUB
5. Logics and conversions AND, NOT, OR, XOR, FRD, TOD
6. Bit modify and file BTD, MOV, MVM, FAL, FSC, COP, FLL
7. Diagnostics FBC, DDT, DTR
8. Shift registers BSL, BSR, FFL, FFU, LFL, LFU
9. Program controls MCR, JMP, LBL, FOR, NXT, BRK, JSR, SBR, RET, TND, AFI, ONS, OSF, EOT
10. PID programming PID
11. Block transfers BTR, BTW
12. Message and ASCII instructions
13. Custom routines
14. Utilize various data types (BCD, BINARY, HEX, OCTAL, DECIMAL, INTEGER, ETC.)

Prerequisites

RSLogix5™ Level One, PLC-5Communications; Introduction to PLC-5s; experience using PLC-5s – this is an advanced class, not for beginners
