Introduction to ControlLogix with RSLogix 5000™

This forty-hour course provides a hands-on overview of the newer Allen-Bradley ControlLogix programmable controller hardware; and the RSLogix5000 Software. This class does not cover motion control instruction sets.

After this class, participants will be able to:

• Understand and utilize ControlLogix Hardware, RSLogix5000™ Software and Firmware
• Identify how the features and functionalities of the ControlLogix processor and associated software differ from earlier processors & software.
• Recognize issues faced in converting older systems to the newer technology or in integrating new systems into environments currently using PLC-5s or SLC 500s.

1. Hardware

   a. Power Supply

   b. Controller

   c. I/O section

   d. Programming Device

    

2. Firmware

   a. Using ControlFlash

   b. Using AutoFlash

   c. Module compatibility

   d. Impact of Power or communication loss during Firmware upgrade

    

3. Software

   a. Going online to the ControlLogix backplane

   b. Defining Tasks

   c. Defining Programs

   d. Defining Routines

   e. Creating Tags

   f.  Creating Structures

   g. Creating Arrays

   h. Entering ladder logic

Prerequisites

Familiarity with Ladder Logic, Numbering Systems basics, and possess good Windows Navigational Skills
