This eight to twelve hour course prepares participants for entry into the PLC-5 Course series. It includes a review of relay logic - symbols, structure and how it is converted to ladder logic; how to interpret ladder logic diagrams; a review of umber systems - binary, octal, hexadecimal & binary coded decimal (BCD); and if needed, will cover Basic Windows skills required for successful use of PLC-5s.

After this class, participants will be able to:
  • Recognize various symbols representing electrical control components
  • Recognize how relay logic is converted to ladder logic
  • Interpret basic ladder logic diagrams
  • Describe the various numbering systems used by PLCs and demonstrate ability to convert between them
  • (If needed) improve Basic Windows skills such as using pull down menus, navigating through screens, opening & modifying documents, creating & saving documents, mouse skills, etc needed for use with PLC-5s.
